We are created for connection and relationships with others and each relationship has the capacity to form our experience and way of existing in the world. While some relationships have left positive and fulfilling impressions within us, others have been negative and detrimental. All of our relationships create experiences that affect our style of relating to ourselves and others and influence our behaviors in other relationships. Often, it is too difficult to hold both the good and bad in our lives if we have had traumatic experiences and we become fragmented in ways that affect how we find ourselves living out our daily lives.
The good news is that we are not destined to live this way. The therapeutic relationship provides an opportunity to gain insight into our lives and helps us think about our experiences and see them through a new lens. We all have the potential to change our narrative by creating new, positive relationships that can help us grow and live fulfilling lives.
